False Teeth Basics

False teeth is the more common name for dentures.

These are removable teeth made of plastic or porcelain.

They are usually fitted to fill the gaps left by fallen natural teeth or teeth that have been extracted.

A person may have missing teeth from an accident or they are extracted due to very bad decay.

It is possible to do nothing when teeth are missing but it is a better option to get dentures to fill the gaps.

Not only is it more aesthetic but also it helps with speech and prevents the jaw from collapsing due to the missing teeth.

Veneers on the other hand are thin sheets of either porcelain or plastic resin that are placed on top of the teeth to make them look better.

Dental veneers are used to fix broken, misshapen, chipped or stained teeth.

They are even used to close gaps between teeth.

False Teeth or Dental Veneers?

False teeth and dental veneers have very little in common except perhaps the fact that they are made from the same type of materials.

Both of them are made from either porcelain or from a plastic composite resin.

False TeethThey both are for improving a person’s smile.

There are however a number of differences between false teeth and veneers.

You can say that veneers are entirely cosmetic while false teeth are essential.

Missing teeth can make it very difficult to chew or to speech properly. Veneers are placed on existing teeth and are purely for aesthetic purposes.

False teeth while also serving an aesthetic purpose are also for functionality.

Composite resin veneers can be fixed at one dentist visit.

The composite resin, which is in putty form is applied directly to the teeth, dried and then sculpted.

They can also be pre-made before fixing like the porcelain veneers.

False teeth on the other hand have to be pre-made before fixing.

The dentist will first take a mold of your gum before the dentures are made.

This is to ensure that they get the right fit and comfort.

False Teeth Pricing

The veneers cost is likely to be higher than the dentures cost.

For one, veneers are cosmetic and are more often than not done by a cosmetic dentist who charges a whole lot of money.

Insurance companies do not normally cover the cost of cosmetic dentistry procedures.

False teeth on the other hand are likely to be covered by most insurance providers, they are fixed by a prosthodontist.
